Clifford Man Dies In Logging Accident

On September 10, 2015 at 3:46pm, Saugeen Shores Police, Saugeen Shores Fire and Bruce County EMS were dispatched to a logging accident. The accident was located in a bush property between Concession 2 and the Bruce Saugeen Townline in Saugeen Township, west of Highway 21.

Two men were working in the bush cutting logs. The victim was operating a chain saw and his partner was operating a log skidder. They were attempting to skid out the logs when one of the logs knocked over a small standing dead tree stump which was approximately 3 metres in height. This tree stump hit the victim.

The male victim was attended to by EMS but was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased is identified as Mark Fritz, age 51, of Clifford, ON

A post mortem is scheduled for September 11, 2015.

Saugeen Shores Police, the Coroner’s Office and Ministry of Labour are investigating the accident.
