CALL FROM CITIZEN LEADS TO SEVERAL CHARGES
(GODERICH, ON) – On August 27, 2012 just before 6:30 p.m. Huron OPP officers were notified of a couple acting suspiciously near the Suncoast Mall. A witness observed a male and female discarding clothing hangers and placing numerous articles of clothing into backpacks. Officers located the male and female at the corner of Suncoast Drive West and Bayfield Road. Officers spoke with the couple and were able to determine that they were in possession of stolen property from Suncoast Mall. Further checks revealed the female was also in possession of several pieces of stolen identification and credit cards.
The female provided a false name to the officers however her true identity was quickly established. Ashley BIERLING, 21, from South Huron has been charged with: Seven counts of Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000, Obstruct Peace Officer, Fail to Comply with Recognizance and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. She is currently in custody.
A search of the male resulted in officers seizing a set of bolt cutters and a small quantity of an illegal drug. Chad THIBIDEAU, 22, from Milverton has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property under $5,000, Possession of Break-In Tools and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He has a court date scheduled for October 22, 2012 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
