(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Friday July 30, 2010 at 3:46 a.m. Perth County OPP officers were contacted by a Victoria Ave. South resident in Listowel who advised that her husband was chasing people in a vehicle who had just stolen a trailer.
A trailer which was loaded with two 4 wheelers had been sitting on the driveway. Shortly before 3:30 a.m. sounds were heard on the driveway and the homeowner observed his trailer being pulled away north bound on Victoria Ave. The homeowner ran outside took his own vehicle and followed his trailer. The trailer was being towed by an older Ford maroon coloured extended cab pickup truck. The truck turned west on Main St, and proceeded south on Hwy. 23. The homeowner continued chasing the truck and trailer in the area south east of Listowel. When travelling east on Perth Line 72 east of Donegal the homeowner observed sparks coming from the trailer chains. Shortly thereafter the trailer became unhitched from the truck, dropped and came to a stop. The homeowner continued to follow the truck but lost sight of it west of Millbank. The homeowner returned to his trailer and was able to retrieve it. The trailer hitch sustained minor damage while the 4 wheelers were undamaged.
