(TOWN OF FERGUS, ON) – On Saturday, January 12, 2013 at approximately 6:10 pm Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call regarding a 2 motor vehicle collision on Highway 6 just north of Side Road 18 in the Town of Fergus.
Investigation revealed that a red pick-up truck was stopped waiting to make a left hand turn into a private driveway on Highway 6 when it was rear-ended by a 2000 Volkswagon Jetta.
Police spoke to the driver of the Jetta and discovered that he had been drinking. The driver was administered a Roadside Screening Device Test which resulted in a fail.
Christopher Fiel aged 31 of Kitchener has been charged with Over 80 contrary to the Criminal Code and Careless Driving, Fail to Surrender Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Owner Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on February 26, 2013 to answer to the charges.
