On Thursday, May 5, 2016, the London Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section commenced an investigation after a young female reported she was assaulted by a male while riding a London Transit Commission bus.
At approximately 12:00 p.m. on that day, a female teen was a passenger on a bus when a male boarded the bus in the area of Springbank Drive and Berkshire Drive. The male allegedly sat in the seat directly behind the female and began touching her. The touching ended when the female got off the bus. She was not injured. The male exited the bus in the downtown area.
On Friday, May 27, 2016, police arrested Jose Luis Hernandez, 54 years, of London. He has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference with a person under the age of 16 years of age.

This investigation was preceded by four incidents in April, 2016, where four young women reported that they had been assaulted on LTC buses. On April 25, a 31-year-old male was arrested and charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference in relation to those incidents.
