The Barrie Police Service received a complaint from a parent who discovered inappropriate messages via a “social networking app” sent to her 14 year old daughter.
The investigation revealed the suspect’s on-line profile was associated to a resident of Midland, Ontario.
On the 20th of May 2015, Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit along with the Midland Police Service and the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Section arrested a 32 year old Midland resident.
The male was transported to Barrie Police Service where he was held for a bail hearing on two (2) counts of Luring, involving make child pornography and invitation to sexual touching
Police have seized a number of computers and a mobile device from the accused.
Barrie Police advise the evidence gathered to date indicates NO other persons appear to have been lured in the same fashion.
The investigation requires an examination of computers seized to examine suspect’s activities on-line.
The examination will occur at Ontario Provincial Police Technology Crime Unit.
