Chickens Banned and $10,000 Hydro Bill

At the council meeting tonight, a gentleman representing Blyth Men’s Fastball addressed council about the poor condition of the baseball field, and the need for a fence and dugouts. Apparently they have been trying to get council to address this for several years, and by the sounds of it, they will be lucky to have their dugouts by the fall of next year. Council claims not to have the $7,000 – $8,000 required to do the upgrades at the Blyth ball diamond. It takes an incredible about of time and effort to get council to act on anything to which they are not a beneficiary. A few minutes later, Council agreed to investigate getting a grant to fix up the Wingham Town Hall, this could cost anywhere from $360,000 to $1,400,000. North Huron taxpayers would have to come up with half of the final amount, the other half would be a grant.

Other Interesting Points:

Archie MaGowan was not present, and there was no mention of the Strategic Plan.

The hydro bill for the Complex for one month, exceeded $10,000.00

Belgrave Community Centre does not meet the fire code.

Chickens are NOT allowed in North Huron (residential properties)
