On March 25th,2014 at 8:30pm officers with the Hanover Police Service conducted a traffic stop for a
violation of the Highway Traffic Act. During the investigation officers observed several loose rounds of
firearm ammunition in the vehicle.
A search was conducted and officers seized an unloaded shot gun that was determined to have had the serial number removed. Hanover Police Service officers also seized a quantity of cannabis marihuana and cannabis resin during the search.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Hanover Police Service. As a result of the investigation,
Hanover Police Service charged a 35 year old Chatsworth man with possession of cannabis resin,
possession of cannabis marihuana and possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been
tampered with. He was later released from custody on the charges for court in Walkerton, Ontario on
April 28th, 2014.
Offences:
1. Possess Cannabis Resin – Over 1 gram, contrary to Section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and
Substances Act
2. Possess Cannabis Marihuana – Over 30 gram, contrary to Section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and
Substances Act and 3. Possess Firearm knowing Serial Number has been tampered with, contrary to Section 108(1Xb)
