The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter last month in Chatham.
On June 17, 2013 police responded to a break and enter on Van Allen Avenue. At this time, a male suspect was observed forcing his way into the locked complex. Once inside, the suspect entered the garage bay where he began checking vehicles. The suspect proceeded to a locked storage area where the locks were broken off to several rooms. Damage was estimated at $100. The suspect was seen exiting the property with a suitcase and duffle bag full of property.
Through investigation, police identified the man responsible and learned that he was also breaching a curfew condition at the time of the incident.
Yesterday morning, police located and arrested the 27-year-old Chatham man. He has been charged with break and enter x6, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 x2, possession of break-in instruments, theft under $5000 x2, mischief under $5000 and fail to comply. He remains in custody.
