Chatham Man Arrested for Domestic Related Offences

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

On August 1, 2013, a man and woman became involved in a verbal argument with resulted in the man slapping the woman in the head multiple times. The woman sustained non life-threatening facial injuries. The man fled the area prior to police arrival and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Through investigation, the woman reported a previous incident of domestic violence where it is alleged that the man struck her with a piece of wood in the abdomen. Officers also learned that the man was currently bound by a probation order with conditions not to communicate with the woman.

Around 5:45 p.m. last night, officers located the man on Grant Street and he was arrested for assault, assault with a weapon and breach of probation. The 52-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
