The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 127 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Three people were arrested.
Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK15015124
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman wanted on an outstanding warrant.
On May 8, 2015 a warrant was issued for the woman as she failed to comply with conditions of her Probation Order.
Yesterday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol located the woman in the area of Raleigh Street and Gray Street in Chatham. The woman was taken into custody and upon being searched incident to arrest, she was found to be in possession of methamphetamine valued at approximately $100.
Vanessa Vandeven, 25 years, of Park Avenue West in Chatham was additionally charged with drug possession. She was released with conditions pending a future court date.
Woman Charged with Theft CK15015176
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman following a shoplifting complaint in Wallaceburg last night.
Around 8:00 p.m. the woman entered Shopper’s Drug Marg on McNaughton Avenue and concealed several items in her purse. An employee confronted the woman and contacted police. The woman was found to be in possession of various shampoos, conditioners and soaps valued at approximately $110.
The 30-year-old Chatham woman was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Charged with Several Driving Offences CK15015098
Yesterday morning, an officer observed the woman driving eastbound on Grande River Line at a high rate of speed. The officer recorded the vehicle travelling 82km/hr in a posted 60km/hr zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation learned that the woman’s driving privileges were suspended due to unpaid fines. She was also driving with expired licence plates and no insurance.
The 28-year-old Chatham woman was charged with speeding, driving while under suspension, driving with no validation on plate, failing to surrender a permit for the motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Her vehicle was towed from the roadway.

May 30 – The Dresden Neighbourhood Watch group will be hosting a bike rodeo from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Czech Hall.
May 30 – The Thamesville Neighbourhood Watch, Sertoma and LaSertoma groups will be hosting a bike rodeo from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the tennis courts at Ferguson Park.
Children are required to have a bike helmet in order to participate in any of the bike rodeos.
