Man and Woman Charged with Theft CK15014143
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man and woman in connection with a shoplifting complaint in Chatham.
On May 17, 2015 just before 5:00 p.m. they entered Sears Canada on King Street and proceeded to the women’s shoe department where they selected a pair of white Adidas running shoes valued at $70. They exited the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise. A store employee confronted them outside and they returned the shoes however fled on foot prior to police arrival. Attempts were made to locate the pair however the man had a false address on his Probation Order.
Shortly after 2:00 a.m. this morning, officers located the man and woman at a residence on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. The 45-year-old man and 34-year-old woman, both of Chatham, have been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. The man was additionally charged with breaching his Probation Order. They have both been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
DNA Helps Solve Break and Enter CK15006985
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter in Chatham.
On March 14, 2015, police responded to a break and enter at Gentry Manor on Park Street. The scene was examined and evidence was seized for forensic analysis. Last month, police received information from the Centre of Forensic Sciences stating that a DNA profile was generated and matched that of a local man.
Shortly after 6:00 a.m. this morning, the man was located on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The 56-year-old man remains in police custody and will be released pending a future court date.
Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK15015303
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a domestic disturbance in Tilbury.
Yesterday, a woman and her common-law husband began arguing. The incident escalated into a physical altercation as the man assaulted the woman and her teenage daughter. The man also uttered threats and broke a pair of glasses.
The 45-year-old man was located in the home under a bed and taken into custody. He has been charged with assault x3, uttering threats and mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK15015280
Around 3:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on Grand Avenue West between Ursuline Avenue and Violet Street in Chatham.
A 25-year-old woman was crossing Grand Avenue outside of the crosswalk when she was struck by a passing vehicle. The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. The 72-year-old female driver was not injured.
