The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 79 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK15019052
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.
On May 28, 2015, the man was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court.
On June 17, 2015 the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Yesterday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. Kenneth McClain, 30 years, of Edgar Street in Chatham was taken into custody. He was released pending a future court date of June 30, 2015.
Woman Arrested on Several Outstanding Warrants CK15019115
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman wanted on outstanding warrants for theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, breach of probation, fail to comply, fail to attend court and driving offences.
Just before 4:00 a.m. this morning, officers located the woman on Grand Avenue East and she was taken into custody. The 42-year-old Chatham woman has been held pending a bail hearing.
Two Men Charged with Mischief CK15017818
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested two men in connection with a mischief complaint in Chatham.
On June 16, 2015 the men entered an apartment building on Thames Street and used bolt cutters to cut through a lock on a washing machine. The men attempted to remove the change from the coin box however were unable to access the money. Upon noticing the video surveillance equipment in the laundry room, one of the men attempted to remove it, however again his efforts were unsuccessful.
Through investigation, police identified the men responsible for the $30 damage to the washing machine lock.
On June 18, 2015 shortly after 1:00 p.m. Clinton Willder, 19 years, of Park Street in Chatham was taken into custody and charged with mischief under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of July 10, 2015.
Around 7:30 p.m. last night Liam Montgomery, 19 years, of Warwick Drive in Chatham attended police headquarters and turned himself in. He was charged with mischief under $5000 and released with conditions pending a future court date of July 10, 2015.
Traffic Enforcement CK15019067
Yesterday, officers conducted traffic enforcement in the Blenheim area.
Eighteen motorists were charged with speeding. Of those eighteen, nine motorists were charged with driving 30km/h over the posted speed limit.
A Chatham man was charged with stunt driving as he was recorded travelling 118km/h in a posted 60km/h zone on Erieau Road.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds motorists that collision statistics show that 27% of fatalities and 19% of serious injuries involve speeding. Please slow down and obey the posted speed limit signs for everyone’s safety.
