Chatham-Kent Police Daily News Release – June 28, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 106 calls for service over the past 24 hours. There was one arrest and nine 911-hang-up calls.

Three Day Licence Suspension CK15019013

On Sunday, June 28 at approximately 02:00 a.m. Chatham-Kent Police officers were dispatched to attend the Sandy Street area in Chatham in response to a disturbance. The 28-year-old Chatham man causing the disturbance left the area, driving a vehicle, prior to police arrival, but officers located the vehicle a short time later and conducted a traffic stop. Through investigation the driver was given a road side breath test and failed the test. As a result, the Chatham man was issued a three day licence suspension and his licence was seized.

Dangerous Conditions

With predictions of up to 60 mm of rainfall this weekend from Environment Canada, Chatham-Kent Police officers were dispatched to 13 calls of dangerous conditions. Uprooted trees hitting power lines kept emergency crews busy on Saturday. There were no reports of injuries.

Great Lakes Police Motorcycle Training Seminar.

Chatham-Kent Police will be hosting the Great Lakes Police Training Seminar from August 19 – 22nd. The seminar is organized by volunteers from various Southern Ontario police services including Toronto, Peel Regional, Waterloo Regional, Durham Regional, York Regional, Chatham-Kent, Ottawa, London, Greater Sudbury, R.C.M.P., O.P.P. and the Ontario Police College. This group hosts an annual police motorcycle training seminar that provides both theoretical and practical police motorcycle instruction. On the final day of the Seminar there is a competition to test the participants on the knowledge and skills that they have learned. This event is open and free to public spectators.
