Chatham-Kent Police Daily News Release – June 27, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 146 calls for service over the past 24 hours. There were four arrests, one was held for a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Theft- CK15018880

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman in connection with a theft investigation.

Last night around 8:10 p.m. the woman attended the Winners store located at 811 St. Clair Street in Chatham and stole approximately $600 worth of merchandise The woman was observed fleeing the area prior to police arrival.

Officers located the woman hiding across the road and he was taken into custody. The 41-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was later released with a future court date to answer to the charges.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant – CK15018855

The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant for a bail violation.

Last night around 6:00 p.m. officers attended an address in Wallaceburg in response to a 911 hang-up call. It was discovered that a warrant, for failure to attend court, existed for the the 27 year old Wallaceburg man, who pocket-dialed 911. The man was arrested, and later released with a future court date to answer to the charges.

Man Charged with Breach of Probation CK15018869

The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested a man for failing to comply with his probation orders.

On the 30th of January 2014, a 39 year old Chatham man agreed to a probation order with one of the conditions stating that he was unable to communicate with a certain female party. On Friday, June 26, 2015, at approximately 8:15 p.m. Chatham-Kent Police received information that a 39 year old Chatham man was at the Kent Motel, located on Grand Avenue, Chatham. Information was also received that he was in the company of the female party, that he was under court issued conditions not to be in the company with.

The man was located, observed to be in the company of the female party, and charged for failing to comply with his probation orders. The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

911 Hang up calls

Chatham-Kent Police responded to 9 hang up/accidental 911 calls in the last 24 hour period. The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that if you accidentally dial 911, please stay on the line. Should you hang up, the call taker will assume it’s an emergency and dispatch police. 911 Hang-up calls consume considerable resources, therefore police are asking all cell phone users to ‘lock it before you pocket.’ If non-emergency services are required please call 519-436-6600 ext 222 for Headquarters front desk staff or 519-352-1234.
