The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 130 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eleven people were arrested, seven of whom were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested from CKPS Wanted List CK15018463
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and failing to comply.
Last night around 5:30 p.m. officers located the man on Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg and he was taken into custody. The 30-year-old Wallaceburg man was released pending a future court date of July 14, 2015.
Woman Charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm CK15018508
Around 10:30 p.m. last night a 22-year-old Chatham woman was assaulted on Grant Street in Chatham. The woman sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital for medical attention.
The 18-year-old Chatham woman responsible was located a short time later and taken into custody. She was charged with assault causing bodily harm and released pending a future court date of July 10, 2015.
Youth Charged with Break and Enter CK15017113
During the early morning hours of June 8, 2015, two youths forced their way into the Canada Post Office in Bothwell and stole several sets of commemorative coins and office supplies valued at $1200. The youths then forced their way into a neighbouring business and stole a lap top, cash and various items valued at $1800. Through investigation, police identified the youths responsible and recovered about $2700 of the stolen property.
Yesterday afternoon, one of the youths turned himself into police headquarters. The 16-year-old Bothwell youth has been charged with break and enter x2 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 x2. He was released pending a future court date of July 13, 2015.
Police continue to look for the second male youth.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply and Drug Possession CK15018457
Around 4:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, officers observed the man riding his bicycle on Sandys Street in Chatham. Officers recognized him and confirmed that he was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant by another police service. Officers also observed the man using a cell phone contrary to his release conditions of not to possess a cellular device.
Officers approached the man on Grand Avenue and he was taken into custody. Upon being searched incident to arrest, he was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and cannabis resin. The 39-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply and two counts of drug possession. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Break and Enter CK15018523
Shortly after 2:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to an alarm at Lally Kia on Richmond Street in Chatham. Upon arrival, officers observed $800 damage to a glass door and a man riding his bike away from the scene. Through investigation, the man was found to be in possession of a lap top belonging to the business.
The 45-year-old Raleigh Township man was taken into custody and charged with break and enter and being in possession of stolen property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
Fail to Remain CK15018460
Yesterday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. police responded to a three vehicle collision on Grand Avenue East near Michener Road in Chatham. A bluish-grey older model full size pick-up truck failed to remain at the scene. The truck should have front end damage. The driver had a grey beard.
Total damage was estimated at $18,000. No one was injured.
