The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 135 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Man Arrested from CKPS Wanted List CK15017515
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on outstanding warrants.
In April 2015, a warrant was issued for the man as he failed to comply with conditions of his Probation Order. In May 2015, he failed to attend court and another warrant was issued.
Last night, officers located the 26-year-old man of no fixed address in Chatham and he was taken into custody. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested on an Outstanding Warrant CK15017549
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman wanted on an outstanding warrant.
In April 2015, the woman was released from custody with a condition to reside at a specific address in Blenheim. On June 8, 2015, police learned that the woman was no longer living there and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Shortly after 4:00 a.m. this morning, officers located the woman exiting a convenience store on Grand Avenue West in Chatham and she was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant. Through investigation, officers learned that she was also bound by a curfew and conditions not to possess any unlawful drugs. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the woman was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
The 19-year-old woman of no fixed address now faces additional charges of drug possession and three counts of failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Theft CK15017450
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a theft investigation.
Yesterday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. the man attended the LCBO store on St. Clair Street in Chatham and stole a bottle of gin valued at approximately $16.00. The man fled the area prior to police arrival.
Two hours later, officers located the man and he was taken into custody. The 36-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Youth Charged with Obstruct Police CK15017489
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a female youth for obstructing police.
Last night, police attended an apartment building in Chatham for follow-up. The youth was evasive with police and led officers to the wrong apartment. While walking, the youth was on her phone texting. Through investigation, officers learned that the youth was texting the person they were looking for to ‘leave now.’ When officers attended the right apartment, no one was there.
The 17-year-old Harwich Township youth’s cell phone was seized as evidence and she was taken into custody for obstructing police. She was released with conditions pending a future court date of July 6, 2015.
