The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 116 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Man Arrested for Outstanding Warrant
On Friday, July 3, 2015 at approximately 1:00 pm, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service attended an address on Patteson Ave. in Chatham in regards to an assistance call. While there, officers identified a male party that was currently on outstanding warrants for breaching probation and failing to attend court.
The 25-year-old Chatham man was arrested. A search of the man revealed a small vile of suspected crystal methamphetamine and he was further charged with possession of a controlled substance. The man was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Weapons Dangerous
On Friday, July 3, 2015 at approximately 1:37 pm, a Chatham-Kent Police officer saw a man running with a knife in the yard of a Park Ave. East address in Chatham. As the officer attended in the area, the man was seen fleeing through backyards. Officers immediately flooded the area and the man was located a short distance away and arrested. The man did not suffer any injuries although it was apparent he was under the influence of drugs. The knife he was carrying was located in a yard nearby and seized.
The 52-year-old Chatham man was charged with weapons dangerous and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault
On Friday, July 3, 2015 at approximately 10:27 pm, a female volunteer working at Ribfest in Tecumseh Park in Chatham was approached by a male party. The intoxicated male began to speak to the volunteer then assaulted her. The Chatham-Kent Police were called and officers located the male and arrested him. The victim did not suffer any injuries.
The 52-year-old Chatham man was charged with sexual assault and held pending a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Chatham
On Friday, July 3, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police were called to a Taylor Ave. address in Chatham in regards to a break and enter that had occurred into a shed. The homeowner stated that at some point during the day, unknown suspect(s) entered the back shed and removed a 46” LG television and a surround sound unit valuing approximately $700.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service will be conducting flare training today in Mitchell’s Bay. This will be for police personnel only. The public are asked not to attend to drop off their old flares as there will be a flare disposal day in the future.
