Chatham-Kent Police Daily News Release – July 28, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 119 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested.

Man Arrested from CKPS Wanted List CK15022503

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

On June 22, 2015, the man attended his girlfriend’s house in Chatham. An argument began over a cell phone and escalated into a physical altercation as he pushed her off a chair. The woman was injured but did not seek medical attention. The man also broke the woman’s toilet handle in the bathroom. The man fled the residence prior to police arrival. Attempts were made to locate him, however when unsuccessful, a warrant was issued for his arrest for the offences of assault and mischief under $5000.

Just before 7:00 a.m. this morning, the 46-year-old Chatham man turned himself in to police headquarters. He has been held pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Breach of Probation CK15022442

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for failing to comply with his Probation Order.

Yesterday afternoon, officers located the intoxicated man on Marlborough Street in Blenheim. Through investigation, it was learned that he was currently bound by a condition not to consume alcohol.

Wayne Coll, 60 years, of Fourth Street in Chatham was charged with failing to comply. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of August 11, 2015.

Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK15022471

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for impaired driving in Chatham.

Around 8:50 p.m. last night, police received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver on Keil Drive. An officer on general patrol observed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Bloomfield Road near Richmond Street. Through investigation, the officer believed the man was operating his truck while under the influence of alcohol and he was taken into custody. The man was transported to the Chatham-Kent OPP detachment for breath tests. His vehicle was towed from the roadway.

Norbert King, 66 years, of Thibodeau Street in Dover Township has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of August 19, 2015.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank the citizen who made the call and possibly saved a life. Anyone who believes a motorist may be impaired is encouraged to call police immediately.

Traffic Enforcement

Yesterday morning, officers conducted traffic enforcement on Talbot Trail near Erieau Road and Victoria Street in Thamesville. Thirteen motorists were stopped and issued speeding tickets.

Break and Enter CK15022441

Sometime between July 25, 2015 and July 27, 2015, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a contractor’s trailer parked on Burk Line in Harwich Township. Approximately $8500 worth of tools were stolen.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15022460

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. yesterday, police responded to a three vehicle collision on Richmond Street near Keil Drive in Chatham.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $10,000.

A 25-year-old Blenheim woman was charged with careless driving.
