Man Charged for Impaired Driving
The Chatham-Kent Police did arrest a man in connection with an impaired driving complaint. At around 9:30 pm, Officers responded to a complaint of a male, driving an industrial size lawnmower on Stanley St. in Chatham whom the complainant believed was impaired. The complainant indicated that he nearly struck a pedestrian. The male was stopped and through investigation the Officer believed the man was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was taken into custody.
A Chatham man was arrested and charged for the offence of impaired driving and having a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit. He has been released pending a future court date.
Youth Charged for Assaulting a Police Officer
The Chatham-Kent Police did arrest a youth in connection with assaulting a Police Officer. At approximately 2:30 am, an Officer stopped a vehicle on Grand Ave E in Chatham and at that time, a passenger in the vehicle exited and confronted the Officer. The youth assaulted the Officer and after a struggle, was taken into custody.
A Chatham youth was arrested and charged with Assaulting a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest in accordance with the Criminal Code and Youth Justice Act and was held pending bail. The Officer sustained minor injuries in regards to the assault.
Man Arrested on Warrants
The Chatham-Kent Police arrested a male in regards to outstanding warrants. On Friday, July 24, 2015, around 9:00 am, Officers attended an address on Park St. in Chatham. While there, they located a male who was wanted on outstanding warrants by this Service. The Chatham male was taken into custody and held for bail.
Marine Unit Discovers Abandoned Vessel
The Chatham-Kent Police Service, Marine Unit, discovered an abandoned boat in a channel near Lake St. Clair. Through investigation and confirmation with the St. Clair County Police in Michigan, it was determined that all the persons aboard the vessel were accounted for and safe. Officers of the Marine Unit stood by until the owner of the vessel attended to retrieve the vessel.
