Chatham-Kent Police Daily News Release July 21, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 112 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK15021597

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with an assault investigation in Blenheim.

Yesterday, a woman contacted police to report historical assaults involving her common-law. The woman reported that throughout their relationship, she was assaulted multiple times and not allowed to leave the residence during one specific altercation. The woman did not seek medical attention following any of the incidents.

A 34-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with forcible confinement and three counts of assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK15021635

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

On April 1, 2015, the man was charged with theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 following a shoplifting complaint at Walmart in Chatham. He was released pending a future court date.

On April 22, 2015, the man failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Last night, the 24-year-old Chatham man turned himself in to police headquarters. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Impaired Driving CK15021606

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman for impaired driving.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police received information about a possible impaired driver travelling southbound on Merlin Road. An officer located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Through investigation, the officer believed the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

Judith Newcombe, 36 years, of Stowe Street in South Woodslee has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released pending a future court date of August 4, 2015.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service received numerous driving complaints regarding this vehicle and would like to thank everyone who made the call.

Traffic Enforcement CK15021580

Yesterday morning, officers conducted speed enforcement on Creek Road.

Eight motorists were charged with speeding. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the posted speed limits.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15021567

Around 8:00 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Grand Avenue West near Keil Drive in Chatham.

One driver was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical treatment.

Total damage was estimated at $10,000. A 21-year-old Raleigh Township woman was charged with a Highway Traffic Act offence.
