The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 152calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Woman Charged with Failing to Comply CK17046484
In August 2017, the woman was released from custody with conditions. One of her release conditions was not to communicate with a certain man that is known to her.
Through investigation, police learned that the woman had communicated with the man yesterday afternoon. Therefore, last night at 9:30 p.m. the 30-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply. She was then transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she has been held for a bail hearing.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK17046517
In July 2017, the man was released from custody with conditions. Two of his release conditions were to abstain from communicating with a certain woman that is known to him and refrain from attending her residence.
On Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 8:30 p.m. the man attended the woman’s residence in Chatham and while outside, began yelling for her. When she opened her door to see what the commotion was, he assaulted her. He then kicked the door as she attempted to close it, hitting her in the head and causing damage to her house. Police were called once he left the area. Attempts made by officers to locate the man were unsuccessful and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
This morning at 6:00 a.m. the 34-year-old Chatham man attended the police station to turn himself in. He was arrested on the warrant and charged with the following offences:
– Fail to comply x 3
– Assault
– Assault with a weapon
– Mischief under $5000 x 2
He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Drive While Under Suspension CK17046493
Last night just before 11:00 p.m. a traffic stop was initiated on Marlborough Street N. and Talbot Street W. in Blenheim.
As a result, a 24-year-old Wheatley man was arrested and charged with drive while under suspension and possession of break and enter tools. The vehicle was towed and the man was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters. He was later released with a court date of December 15, 2017.
