The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 124 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested. Of the four people arrested, three were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Fatal Fire in Wallaceburg CK16032497
Just before 4:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, emergency crews responded to a residential fire on Nelson Street where one person was found deceased in the apartment.
Yesterday, a post-mortem examination was conducted at the London Health Sciences Center. The name of the deceased will not be released as per the family’s request.
Police continue to investigate with the assistance of the Coroner’s Office and Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office, however at this time, the fire is not considered suspicious.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16032527
On March 31, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions. A few of the conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific woman and child, attend within 100 meters of their residence and to reside at a specific address in Chatham.
In August, the man attended the woman’s residence and during a verbal argument he damaged her phone.
In September, the man was seen in the woman’s back yard and he also sent her a Facebook friend request which she refused to accept.
On September 27, 2016 police attended the address the man was bound to live at to follow up on the incidents from August and September. At this time, police learned that he had not be living there for approximately a month.
Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested. The 29-year-old Chatham man has been charged with three counts of failing to comply and one count of mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Dresden CK16032652
On Saturday, September 24, 2016 sometime between 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked apartment on Holden Street.
Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a 16GB 2.1 iPad.

Sometime between September 26, 2016 and September 28, 2016 unknown suspect(s) entered a residence on Grand Avenue West and stole an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.
