Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – Sept 29, 2015

Police Execute Search Warrant CK15029514

Last night, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section execute a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant in Chatham.

Officers seized approximately $2500 worth of fentanyl and marijuana from the residence. A pair of brass knuckles and ammunition were also seized.

Through investigation, officers further recovered stolen construction materials, including roofing nails and shingles.

A 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with:

– possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking

– drug possession x2

– unauthorized possession of a weapon

– possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 x2

– possession of ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order x4

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Breach of Probation CK15029507

In June 2015, the man entered into a Probation Order with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was not communicate with a specific Chatham woman or attend within a 100 meters of her residence.

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at the woman’s residence. Through investigation, officers found the man hiding in the basement. The 30-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK15029556

Earlier this month, a woman attended police headquarters to report that she had been assaulted and threatened. Through investigation, police further learned that the man was currently bound by conditions not to communicate with the woman. Attempts were made to locate the man, however when unsuccessful, a warrant was issued for his arrest for the offences of assault, uttering threats and breach of probation.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m. this morning, officers arrested the man on Harvey Street. The 40-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15029530

Around 7:00 p.m. last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision on John Street near Sandys Street in Blenheim. A 50-year-old Blenheim man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention.

Total damage was estimated at $15,000.

A 17-year-old Harwich Township girl has been charged with disobeying a stop sign.

Community Forum

The Chatham Kent Drug Awareness Council – Blenheim Cluster will be hosting a Community Forum tonight at the Blenheim District High School, 163 Chatham Street South, in the library. Learn from professional and personal perspectives what substances are prominent in our community, the damage they are inflicting on individuals and what we can do as a community to support those in need. The event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
