Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – Sept 19, 2015

Man Charged with Voyeurism

In the afternoon of September 18, 2015, a female was shopping at a retail store on St Clair St, Chatham. While going from section to section, she became aware of a man who seemed to be following her. While in the change room, she saw a reflection in the mirror of a cell phone held underneath the change room door, and immediately opened the door to confront him. The man attempted to flee the store, but not before a witness snapped photos of him, and the vehicle he was operating.

Police later located the vehicle and the man in question. The 23 year old Chatham man was arrested and charged with Voyeurism. He was processed and held for a bail hearing. His cell phone was seized for a forensic download, and the investigation is continuing.

Unsettled Differences Leads to Charges

Late in the evening of September 16, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police and Ambulance attended a drinking establishment on Richmond St, in response to an altercation that occurred outside between two women. It was learned that the victim and accused were known to each other and were previously involved in a dispute several years ago. Apparently the 35 year old Chatham woman couldn’t let go of the beef and attacked the 40 year old female outside of the bar. She grabbed the victim’s hair and started punching her, threw her to the ground, and continued to punch and kick the victim. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries to her head, back, hand and ribs. Another female stepped in to try and stop the fight, but was violently shoved from behind by the aggressor as well.

The suspect was located in the evening of September 18, 2015, and arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Hard and Assault. She was processed and released with a future court date.

Recovered Boat and Trailer

In the evening of September 18, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police conducted a traffic stop in Wallaceburg. The 30 year old female driver was found in possession of a boat and trailer that was reported stolen from the area of Corunna. The boat and trailer were seized, and the owner from Michigan was contacted. The investigation is continuing with charges pending.
