Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – October 28, 2015

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15032310

At 2:38 p.m. yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Erieau Road and Bisnett Line in Harwich Township.

A southbound Chevrolet Impala turned left onto Bisnett Line and in doing so, turned directly into the path of a northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle. The rider of the motorcycle, a 49-year-old Erieau man suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where he was stabilized and then airlifted to Victoria Hospital in London. The 59-year-old female driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.

The damage to both vehicles is estimated at $14,000.

The Traffic Unit is currently investigating this collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Michael Pearce at 519-355-1092.

Suspicious Package CK15032308

Around 2:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, a Chatham resident attended police headquarters with a suspicious package. The front lobby was placed under quarantine, however the building was not evacuated. A local HAZMAT team was advised of the situation. Through investigation, police learned that the package was sent by a company known as Mysterious Package in Toronto which sends gag jokes and storytelling orders upon request. The package did not contain anything hazardous or suspicious.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that should you receive a suspicious package in the mail, do not transport the item, please call 911 immediately so we can contain any possible affected areas.

Theft in Chatham CK15032343

Last night, shortly after 7:00 p.m. police responded to a parking lot on Keil Drive South. An unknown suspect smashed the window of a 2015 Porsche Cayenne Turbo and stole a tan Louis Vuitton briefcase valued at $5000. The tall, thin suspect fled the area on a red bicycle and was last wearing all dark clothing with a hood. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2000.

Stolen Vehicle CK15032264

Sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, unknown suspect(s) stole a grey 2002 Buick Rendezvous from a residence on Victoria Road in Howard Township. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates BTYW 399.
