The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 92 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested. Five of the eight people were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest CK15029805
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a traffic stop in the Pain Court area.
Yesterday afternoon, police received a complaint of a man operating a lawnmower on Winterline Road while in possession of alcohol. An officer located the man sitting on the grass cutting machine in the northbound lane of Winterline Road, just north of Normandin Line. The man was in possession of a cooler containing beer. Through investigation, police learned that he was currently bound by conditions from Alberta not to possess alcohol or drive a motor vehicle.
The 48-year-old Dover Township man was charged with two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK15029792
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for breaching his release conditions.
In March 2015, the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he had to reside at a specific Chatham address.
Yesterday morning, officers attended the residence to serve the man a document. Through investigation, officers learned that the man was not living there. Around 5:00 p.m. officers located the man leaving a residence on Trillium Lane and he was taken into custody.
The 26-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Charged with Theft CK15029840
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman following a shoplifting complaint in Chatham last night.
Just before 8:00 p.m. police responded to Walmart on St. Clair Street in regards to a theft. The woman was taken into custody for stealing makeup.
The 18-year-old Chatham woman was charged with theft under $5000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released pending a future court date.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK15029818
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Keil Drive North near Baldoon Road in Chatham.
No one was injured. Total damages were estimated at $4000.
A 22-year-old man was charged with careless driving.
