Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – October 11, 2015

Motor Vehicle Collision – CK15030696

On October 10, 2015 at approximately 6:10pm police responded to a two vehicle collision on Countryview Line between Lindsay Road and Centre Side Road north of Chatham.

An 18 year old male driver and 13 year old male passenger were travelling eastbound on Countryview Line when their GMC Pickup struck the rear of a tomato wagon being pulled by a John Deer tractor. The two youth were taken to Chatham-Kent PGH where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The 75 year old female driver of the tractor was uninjured. Total damage was estimated at $25,000.

The 18 year old was charged with Careless Driving.

Break and Enter in Chatham – CK15030703

The Chatham-Kent Police Service is investigating a Break and Enter that occurred on Erieau Road. Sometime between October 9, 2015 at 10pm and October 10, 2015 at 9am, an unknown suspect entered a detached garage and took a Mastercraft corded drill, a Mastercraft jig saw and vinyl records. Man Charged with Liquor Offence – CK15030724

On October 10, 2015 at approximately 1042pm police attended at a residence on Timothy Crescent in Chatham in regards to a disturbance. The disturbance continued out onto the street after police arrival. A male party was found unable to care for himself and was subsequently arrested. For his safety, the 47 year old male was held in police custody until sober.

Man Charged with Liquor Offence – CK15030750

On October 11, 2015 at approximately 3am police attended in the parking lot of a business on Sandy’s Street in Chatham. Police located an intoxicated male who was unable to care for himself and was subsequently arrested. For his safety, a 21 year old Scarborough male was held in police custody until sober.

Reminder- Operation Impact October 9th to 12th, 2015

October 9th -12th, 2015 will mark ‘Operation Impact’, a national campaign to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world.

This special weekend is a police initiative designed to remind people that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways. Educating the public in safe driving practices is a priority. The focus will be on behaviours that put drivers, passengers and other road users most at risk: impaired driving, seat belt use, and all aspects related to aggressive and distracted driving. All enforcement agencies across the country have been invited to participate.
