Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) CK15034495
Last night, the Chatham-Kent Police Service kicked off the Festive RIDE season with spot checks on Lacroix Street then later on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.
A total of 592 vehicles were stopped and four (4) roadside screening tests were conducted. Two drivers were charged with driving while under suspension and officers seized marijuana from two vehicles.
With the holiday season quickly approaching, motorists are reminded that officers will be conducting RIDE spot checks now through until New Years. Please don’t drink and drive.
Man Arrested from CKPS Wanted List CK15034447
In August 2015, police attended a residence in Wheatley in regards to a domestic related incident. Prior to police arrival, the man fled the area, however a warrant for his arrest was issued for the offences of criminal harassment, uttering threats and failing to comply.
Yesterday morning, the 38-year-old Leamington man turned himself in to police headquarters. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Disobeying a Court Order CK15034535
In August 2014 the man was placed on a Conditional Sentence Order with a daily curfew of 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
This morning around 3:30 a.m. an officer observed the man riding a bicycle on Lacroix Street while carrying a partial bike over his shoulder. The officer stopped the man to investigate and learned that he was failing to comply with his curfew condition.
The 24-year-old Chatham was arrested and charged with disobeying a court order. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK15034524
Around 12:30 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a disturbance in Wheatley. The intoxicated man was upset that his girlfriend refused to give him the keys to his truck so he could drive home. The man took it upon himself to leave the residence and start walking home to Erieau.
For his own safety, the man was taken into custody and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. The 63-year-old man will be released when sober.
Stolen Vehicle in Chatham CK15034533
Sometime yesterday afternoon, unknown suspect(s) stole a white 2001 Dodge Ram truck from a residence on Grand Avenue East. The truck was last seen with Ontario license plates 896 8CV.
