Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – November 10, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 107 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested.

Traffic Enforcement

Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Unit conducted an enforcement blitz throughout the Municipality.

105 tickets were issued for:

– Speeding – 73

– Seatbelts – 25

– Cell Phone – 1

– Improper Tires – 1

– Document Related Offences – 5

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all motorists to obey the rules of road as education through enforcement will continue throughout our community in an effort to keep all road users safe.

Stolen Vehicle from Chatham CK15033712

Sometime between November 8th at 8:00 p.m. and November 9th at 3:00 p.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a white, 4 door, 2009 Saturn Aura bearing Ontario license plates BXRY 595. The car was locked and parked on Wilson Street.

Woman Charged with Theft CK15033724

On July 14, 2015 the woman was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was to abstain from attending Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham. On August 11 and November 9, 2015, the woman was again released from custody with the same conditions.

Last night around 9:45 p.m. the woman attended Walmart and placed numerous items in her cart, including but not limited to cosmetics, clothing and food. The woman made no attempt to pay for the merchandise valued at approximately $1772. The woman was taken into custody and upon being searched incident to arrest, she was found to be in possession of more Walmart property inside her coat.

The 22-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with theft under $5000 and three counts of failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15033686

Around 4:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Princess Street near Colborne Street in Chatham.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $7500.

A 51-year-old Chatham man was charged with making an improper left turn.
