False 911 calls are consuming time and recourses of the Chatham-Kent Police Service.

False 911 calls are continuing to pull officers away from incidents that require their attention. In the last 24 hours the Chatham-Kent Police Emergency Communication Centre received 6false 911 calls. These calls consume considerable resources and police are asking the public to lock the screen of cell phones so they don’t accidentally dial 911 in their pocket. If you accidentally dial 911 remain on the line and speak with a call taker. Should you hang up, the call taker will assume it is an emergency and dispatch police. Remaining on the line assists the call taker in determining the appropriate police response.
