Motor Vehicle Collision CK15036897
Shortly after 5:00 p.m. last night, emergency crews responded to a collision between an ATV and SUV on Riverview Drive east of Orchard Heights Drive in Chatham.
The ATV was originally travelling in the eastbound lane but crossed over into the westbound lane and collided head on with the Chevrolet Tahoe. Both riders of the ATV, a 16-year-old Chatham youth and 18-year-old Chatham man were injured and transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. The 16-year-old was later transferred to Victoria Hospital in London with life-threatening-injuries. He remains in critical condition this morning. The driver and passenger of the Tahoe, a 54-year-old Tilbury man and 76-year-old Chatham woman were also transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention.
The collision remains under investigation by the Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Mike Pearce at 519-355-1092.
Man Charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle and Assault CK15036854 / CK15036924
Around 9:30 a.m. yesterday morning, police received information that the man had just stolen a vehicle from John Street in Blenheim. At 12:30 p.m. the man was located with the stolen car outside the Emergency Room at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. The 35-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with theft of motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of January 13, 2016.
As the man returned to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention, he assaulted a male patient attempting to buy a bag of chips from the vending machine. The hospital security officer broke up the fight and police were contacted. The patient was not injured.
The man was again arrested and charged with assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Being in Possession of a Stolen Credit Card CK15036865
Yesterday morning around 11:00 a.m. the man entered Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The man attempted to purchase headphones worth $50. When he tapped the credit card it was declined. The man exited the store without the headphones, however returned moments later. The man walked around the store and placed a pair of winter gloves, a flashlight and other items into his gym bag. He exited the store making no attempt to pay for the merchandise valued at $126. Upon being apprehended in the parking lot, he was searched incident to arrest. Police found the man to be in possession of two stolen credit cards from Sarnia.
Ian Lindsay, 21 years, of Errol Court in Sarnia has been charged with theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, using a stolen credit and two counts of being in possession of a stolen credit card. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of January 13, 2016.
