Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – August 4, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 87 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested.

Man Charged with Break and Enter CK15023274

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

Yesterday, the man entered his ex-girlfriend’s residence through an unlocked door. The woman asked the man to leave as he was not invited into her home. The man began yelling at the woman and assaulted her. The woman was able to access her phone and dial 911. The man fled the residence on foot, however was located by officers a short distance away. The woman did not require medical attention. Through investigation, officers learned that the man was also bound by three separate Probation Orders each with conditions not to contact the woman or attend her residence.

The 24-year-old Raleigh Township man has been charged with break and enter while committing an assault and three counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK15023260

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for failing to comply with his release conditions.

In March 2015, the man entered into a Probation Order with conditions not to attend a specific address on Canterbury Street in Chatham or to have contact directly or indirectly with a specific Chatham man. In June 2015, the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to reside in Brampton.

Yesterday morning, the man attended the residence on Canterbury and began knocking on windows. The man gained the attention of the homeowner with whom he was to have no contact with. The man fled the area prior to police arrival, however was located a short distance away on Coatsworth Avenue. The 37-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with three counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and Enter in Wallaceburg CK15023282

Sometime this past week, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked shed on University Avenue and stole a Husqvarna 18” gas powered chainsaw valued at $350. Mischief in Dresden CK15023256

Sometime between August 2, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. and August 3, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) damaged the windshield of a Chevrolet pick-up truck parked on Queen Street West. Mischief in Chatham CK15023251

Sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, unknown suspect(s) damaged a pay and display machine off Ursuline Avenue at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Damage was estimated at $500.
