The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 107 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested, and two are being held for a bail hearing.
Domestic Assault
In the morning of August 2, 2015, a Chatham-Kent Police Officer was flagged down by a female in Downtown Chatham. She had fresh scratches and redness around her neck and collar area, and stated that she had just been assaulted. After she was interviewed, it was learned that she had been choked and dragged out of the residence of a man she was visiting, after a heated argument over accusations.
Police were able to locate the 33 year old Chatham man later in the evening, at a Thames St address in Chatham. He was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault, and held for a bail hearing.
Outstanding Warrants
In the late evening of August 2, 2015, the Chatham-Kent Police were called to a business on St. Clair St, Chatham, for a domestic dispute. Upon Police arrival, the male and female were arguing outside, and when he spotted Police he fled on foot. Information was gathered, and it was learned that the man had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. Police were able to locate the man in the area of Grant St, Chatham, approximately 30 minutes later, and he was arrested without incident.
The 22 year old man was arrested for 2 counts of Breach of Probation Order, and Failing to Attend Court. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
