The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 99 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested, and one is being held for a bail hearing.
Drug Warrant Arrest
In the evening of August 4, 2015, the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Unit executed a drug search warrant on a Hillyard St, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team. Quantities of multiple illicit substances were located and seized for analysis. The tenant could not be located at the time, but grounds were formed for criminal charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
In the evening of August 26, 2015, the tenant attended the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and was subsequently arrested on the previous grounds. The 37 year old Chatham woman was charged with possession of cannabis marihuana, cannabis resin, psilocybin, cocaine, and methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). She was processed and released with a future court date.
Bail Violations
In June, 2015, a female was released from the courts on a recognizance for several criminal charges on multiple investigations, including robbery, fraud, and bail violations. One of the conditions upon release was to notify Chatham-Kent Police in writing, within 24 hours of any address change.
On August 8, 2015, she changed he address to a room at a local Chatham motel. On August 26, 2015, a residence check was conducted, and it was learned that she had not been residing at her address for over two weeks. The 29 year old Chatham woman was located and arrested for Fail to Comply with Recognizance, and held in custody for a bail hearing.
Theft of Bicycles
In the early morning of August 26, 2015, three high-end bicycles were stolen from the back of a vehicle in a downtown Chatham parking lot: royal blue Giant mountain bicycle, gray/brown Gary Fisher mountain bicycle, and silver Gary Fisher mountain bicycle with red lettering. The total value of the bicycles is said to be approximately $5000.
