The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 155 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and one is being held for a bail hearing.
Domestic Related Breach
In December of 2014, a 20 year old Chatham man was entered into a Probation order, as a result of some domestic related charges. He was placed on several conditions, including, “not to initiate any communication, association or contact directly or indirectly”, with his then ex-girlfriend.
In the morning of August 1, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police attended an address on Campbell St, Chatham, to speak to a female in regards to an earlier incident. The officer observed the 20 year old male in the presence of the female, inside the residence. He was subsequently arrested for Breach of Probation, and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters, where he was lodged for bail hearing.
Assault with Weapon
In the afternoon of August 1, 2015, a man was operating his E-Bike on Wallace St, Wallaceburg, when he noticed a man known to him and stopped to speak to him. An altercation ensued, and the man punched the victim in the head several times and then attempted to stab him in the abdomen with a screw driver. It is undetermined what provoked the man to attack, but surveillance footage in the area was located and confirmed the complaint.
The 50 year old Wallaceburg man was later located and charged with Assault with Weapon.
Attempted Robbery
In the early morning hours of August 2, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police attended an address on Minnie St, Wallacburg, in regards to a disturbance. It was quickly learned that an unknown male attempted to steal a guitar from the property. A female visiting the residence screamed at him and attempted to grab the guitar from the suspect; she was pushed down to the ground and struck in the arm. Her friend came to her assistance and they were able to fight off the suspect, while pulling a sweater off of him, and prevent him from stealing any property.
Suspect description was obtained, a perimeter was set up, and Police K9 was utilized in attempt to locate the suspect. After some time, the track was called and the suspect could not be located.
