Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – August 1, 2015

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 159 calls for service in the last 24 hours. As a result, eight people were arrested, three of which were held for bail.

Male Arrested on Driving Prohibition Charges CK15022856

On July 31st, 2015 Officers observed a male party operating a motor vehicle in the Blenheim Area. Through previous investigations the male was believed to be prohibited from driving, and a traffic stop was subsequently executed. Investigation resulted in the arrest of a 27 year old male party for Driving while Prohibited. The male was released with a future court date and restricting conditions.

Chatham man Arrested for Theft & Breach of Conditions CK15022847

On the 31st of July, 2015 Police responded to an address on Richmond Street, Chatham in response to a Theft complaint. Upon further investigation Police determined a 19 year old male contravened his conditions by attending the address, and furthered his involvement by removing multiple items from the residence. As a result, the male was located and arrested by Police for Theft and Breach of Release Conditions. The male was subsequently transported to courts for bail.

Male Arrested for Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle CK15022919

On the 31st of July, 2015 a 51 year old Chatham male was observed by Police operating a motorized scooter. As observations continued, Police believed the male driver to be impaired and a traffic stop was executed. As a result the male was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Breach of Conditions related charges. The male was transported to Headquarters where he provided a breath sample which registered more than two times the legal limit. The male was held in custody pending bail.

Driver Arrested for Operating Vehicle while over the legal limit CK15022939

While on general patrol Police stopped a 58 year old male on Richmond Street, Chatham. As a result of that stop a Roadside test was conducted, in which the driver failed. The male was subsequently transported to Headquarters where he provided an additional sample, and was later charged with Operating a Vehicle over the legal limit. The male was released with a future court date.

Chatham Male Arrested for Numerous Offences CK15022953

During the early morning hours of August 1st, 2015 Police executed a traffic stop in the area of Brock Street, Chatham. Upon further investigation a 22 year old male was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The male was subsequently transported to Headquarters for further sampling. While he remained in Police custody, the male refused to provide a breath sample and became confrontational with Police and uttered personal threats against the Investigating Officer. As a result the male was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Breach of Conditions related charges, Failure to Provide Breath Sample and Utter Threats. Upon further investigation the male was also found to be in Possession of a suspected controlled substance, and was charged accordingly (CK15022956). At the time of media release the male remained in Police custody as investigation continued.

Two Youths Arrested for Theft from Vehicles CK15022976

Shortly after midnight on August 1st, 2015 Police responded to a subdivision in the North End of Chatham in response to multiple Theft from Vehicle complaints. Investigation resulted in the arrest of two youths for Theft related charges. Both parties were released with future courts dates and bound by conditions.
