Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 30May2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 127 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.

Man Charged with Break and Enter CK16015386

In December 2015 the man was released from custody with several conditions. Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Chatham woman or attend her address on Joseph Street.

Yesterday morning, the man entered the residence on Joseph Street, now vacant, through a window. Officers found the man sleeping in a chair in the living room.

The 23-year-old Chatham man was charged with break and enter and failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Flees from Police in Stolen Vehicle CK16015378

Yesterday morning around 9:10 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed a stolen motor vehicle from Sarnia with improper plates leaving a residence on King Street in Wallaceburg. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Duke Street, however before the officer exited his cruiser, the man drove away. The man drove to a residence on John Park Line and fled on foot. Officers were allowed entry into the residence by the homeowner and the man was located. Upon being arrested, the man provided the officer with a false name, however through previous incidents with police, his true identity was quickly determined.

The 28-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with using plates not authorized for vehicle, flight from peace officer, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, obstruct peace officer, seven counts of driving while disqualified and two counts of failing to comply with release conditions. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16015382

On March 9, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. the woman entered her ex-boyfriend’s parent’s residence in Wallaceburg. Police were called regarding the disturbance, however the woman left the residence prior to police arrival taking a set of keys located near the door. Attempts were made to locate the woman, however when unsuccessful, a warrant for her arrest for the offence of break and enter was issued.

Yesterday morning, around 11:00 a.m. while on John Park Line, officers located the woman and she was taken into custody. The 22-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Youth Charged with Assault with a Weapon CK16015099

On May 27, 2016 the youth was on the bus going home from school. While on the bus, he got into a verbal argument with a young girl which escalated into a physical altercation as he threw three (3) rocks at her head. Upon being dropped off at home, the 11-year-old girl was transported to hospital for medical attention.

The 12-year-old Chatham boy was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. He was released pending a future court date of June 20, 2016.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16015433

Yesterday afternoon, around 3:30 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Erieau Road near Bisnett Line.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $7000.

An 84-year-old man was charged with making an improper left turn.

Theft of Crown Royal Collection CK16015037

Sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning, unknown suspect(s) entered a trailer being used for moving purposes parked on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg. The suspect(s) stole two (2) boxes of collectible bottles of Crown Royal. The Crown Royal bottles were all in their original boxes or bags in which they were actually bought in. The bottles were all 26oz in size and unopened.

Total value of the collection has been estimated at $2000-$3000.
