Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 29Jan2017

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 114 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested.

Man Arrested on Warrant

On Wednesday, January 25, 2017 police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Wilson Street in Chatham. Officers found that the female caller had been assaulted by her boyfriend and some of her belongings were broken by him. The boyfriend had fled the area before officers arrived. The female was not injured as a result of the altercation and a warrant was sought for the arrest of the boyfriend.

On Saturday, January 28, 2017, police located the man at a Selkirk Street address and arrested him for Mischief Under $5000 x2 and Assault x2. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he is awaiting a bail hearing.

UPDATE- Robbery in Chatham

On Friday, January 27, 2017 police responded to a call that a male that was assaulted. The male explained that he met another male to conduct a transaction but was instead assaulted by the male and his friend and robbed of cash. The victim reported minor injuries. The victim knew who the males were and police made attempts to locate them.

On January 28, 2017, one of the males was located and arrested for Robbery. The other male involved is still outstanding and is currently being sought by police. The 16-year-old youth was released on a promise to appear with a future court date of February 20, 2017.

Break and Enter in Chatham

On Saturday, January 28, 2017, police were called to a vacant commercial property on Keil Drive South in Chatham in regards to a break and enter. Upon arrival, police learned that between the hours of 5:30 p.m and 9:30 a.m. unknown parties forced open a door to the building and removed approximately $1300 worth of tools. At this time, there are no suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Andrew Craven at [email protected]. Man Arrested After Breaching Conditions

On January 20, 2017 a 47-year-old Chatham man was placed on conditions prohibiting him from contacting his girlfriend as a result of being charged with assaulting her.

On Saturday, January 28, 2017 the man sent his girlfriend some text messages. She reported the contact to police who initiated an investigation and located the man at his Ingram Street residence.

The man was arrested for Failing to Comply with a Recognizance x2. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing.
