Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 29April2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 114 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.

Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK16011459

Last night around 8:20 p.m. the man was driving westbound on Pioneer Line towards Arkwood Road with two friends when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole. The man sustained minor injuries. Luckily, his passengers were not injured.

Through investigation, the officer suspected the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and a roadside breath test was administered. The man failed and was arrested. He was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

John Peters, 19 years, of Kent Bridge Road was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date of May 11, 2016.

Man Charged with Breaching Conditions of his Probation Order CK16011318

On October 22, 2015 the man entered into a Probation Order with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate or contact in any way directly or indirectly with a specific Chatham woman.

On April 27, 2016 the woman reported to police that the man had called her twice from the same phone number.

Last night around 8:30 p.m. police located the man and he was arrested. The 55-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of breach of probation. He was released pending a future court date of May 10, 2016.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Chatham CK16011409

Yesterday afternoon, shortly after 1:30 p.m. police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on King Street East near Princess Street. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a pole. No one was injured.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving, driving with no license and drug possession.

Total damage was estimated at $2000. The car he was driving was also towed from the scene.

He will be required to attend court on May 12, 2016.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Wallaceburg CK16011410

Yesterday afternoon around 1:45 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Duncan Street near Wellington Street. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $15,000.

An 18-year-old Thamesville woman was charged with an offence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Break and Enter in Dresden CK16011476

Sometime between March 2 and April 28, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on Centre Street. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a PS4 gaming system along with 12 games and loose change. Total value of the theft is estimated at $1500.
