The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 143 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested.
Update: Serious Motor Vehicle Collision CK16032614
On September 28, 2016 shortly after midnight, an officer on general patrol was flagged down by a man on Pinehurst Line in regards to a serious single motor vehicle collision. Emergency crews responded and a 38-year-old Richmond Hill man and a 48-year-old Chatham woman were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. The man was treated and released. The woman was transferred to London with life-threatening-injuries, but has since been transferred back to Chatham for continuing medical care.
Through investigation, the Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Unit determined that the woman was travelling at a high rate of speed on Pinehurst Line when she lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.
Yesterday, the woman was charged with stunt driving and careless driving. She will be required to attend court on December 21, 2016.
Update: Serious Motor Vehicle Collision CK16022092
On July 16, 2016 around 12:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Swan Line between Baldoon Road and Border Road. The driver was travelling eastbound on Swan Line when he lost control of his van, left the roadway, rolled and came to rest in a farmer’s field. The 36-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance – Sydenham Campus where he was stabilized for transport to the London Health Sciences Centre.
Yesterday, the Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Unit completed their investigation and the man was charged with careless driving and failing to properly wear a seatbelt. He will be required to attend court on December 21, 2016.
Police Execute Search Warrant in Chatham CK16036389
Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on Riverview Line.
Approximately $11,000 worth of cannabis marihuana was seized.
A 63-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and charged with drug possession. He was released pending a future court date of November 17, 2016.
Man and Woman Charged with Theft CK16035369
On October 19, 2016 around 3:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole approximately $1700 worth of tools from an unlocked pick-up truck parked on Riverview Drive in Chatham.
With the assistance of video surveillance, police identified the man and woman responsible for the theft.
Yesterday, Douglas Couvillon, 41 years, of Eighth Street in Chatham and Madison Wood, 18 years, of James Lane in Ridgetown were arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. They were both released pending a future court date of November 16, 2016.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK16036468
On April 8, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions for property related offences. One of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a specific address or notify police in writing within 24 hours of any change in address.
On October 26, 2016, police learned that the man had left his last known address and failed to notify police.
Early this morning, police located the man on Princess Street in Chatham and he was arrested. The 31-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Breach of Probation CK16036453
Last night around 11:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man rummaging through donations piled next to the bins at the Salvation Army Thrift Store on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man was currently bound by a daily curfew of 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Jesse Graham, 21 years, of Wellington Street in Chatham was arrested and charged with breach of probation. He was released pending a future court date of November 18, 2016.
