Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 28Mar2017

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 162 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.

Woman Charged with Theft CK17010350

In January 2017, the woman was arrested and charged in London and later released. One of the conditions of her release was not to operate a vehicle.

In March 2017, the woman was arrested and charged in Sarnia and later released. One of the conditions of her release was not to operate a vehicle.

Last night just before 8:30 p.m. the woman was inside the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham. She selected a curling iron off the shelf, opened the package and then placed the curling iron into her purse. The woman proceeded to the deli section where she placed several types of meat and cheese also within her purse. She then exited the store making no attempt to pay for any of the concealed items which totaled $179.33. Store security was able to stop the woman just outside the store as police arrived.

When an officer began placing the woman under arrest for theft, she pulled away and ran into the parking lot. The woman got into the driver’s seat of her nearby vehicle and sped off toward St. Clair Street. Her vehicle was stopped as police were able to block the exit lane. The woman exited her vehicle and was arrested.

The 44-year-old Sarnia woman was charged with:

– Theft under $5000

– Possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000

– Resist arrest

– Failing to comply x two counts

She was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she has been held for bail.

Wallaceburg Man Charged with Break and Enter CK17010332

In August 2016, the man was arrested and charged for domestic-related offences against his girlfriend at the time. One of the conditions of his release was not to attend within 250 meters of her residence which is now in Chatham.

Yesterday just after 6:00 p.m. while she was walking her dog just across the street from her house, she observed the man on her property. The man did not see her and entered her house through an unlocked door. She stayed outside and called the police.

The 40-year-old Wallaceburg man was located and arrested by police. He was charged with break and enter and failing to comply. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for bail.

‘Most Wanted’ Arrest CK17010256

Yesterday at 10:20 a.m. the man turned himself in to police. He had been listed on the Chatham-Kent Police Service ‘Most Wanted’ list due to outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Gary Fleming, 24 years, of Hidden Valley Drive in Blenheim was arrested on the warrants. He was then released with a court date of Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

Another ‘Most Wanted’ Arrest CK17010343

Last night just before 9:00 p.m. the woman was observed by a citizen sitting in the Tim Hortons on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg and police were called. She was listed on the Chatham-Kent Police Service ‘Most Wanted’ list due to outstanding warrants for her arrest.

The 33-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she has been held for bail.
