Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 28June2016

Man Charged with Break and Enter CK16019426

On June 14, 2016 police responded to a break and enter into an apartment on Merritt Avenue in Chatham where electronics, jewelry and cash were stolen.

Through investigation, police learned that three men were responsible for the break and enter. Yesterday afternoon, police arrested and charged the first of three men. The 19-year-old Chatham man was transported to the court house pending a bail hearing. Police continue to look for the other two Chatham men.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16019416

Yesterday morning around 8:45 a.m. the man wanted on an outstanding warrant for domestic related offences turned himself in to police headquarters. The 31-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested and transported to the court house pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Mischief CK16019446

On May 18, 2016 the man cut the lock off a Bibles for Missions donation box in Chatham which allowed donated merchandise to be stolen. Through investigation, police identified the man responsible.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant. Christopher Turner, 41 years, of Grand Avenue in Chatham was charged with mischief under $5000. He was released pending a future court date July 12, 2016.

Stolen ATV CK16019449

On June 27, 2016 between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a garage on Arnold Road in Wallaceburg causing about $50 damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a red Honda ATV and two helmets. The ATV was last seen with license plate 51EZ1. The first stolen helmet was a small bright yellow DOT helmet with a picture of a skull that appears to be breaking through the helmet. The second stolen helmet was a XL camouflage DOT helmet. Total value of the theft is approximately $9000.

Theft of Tools CK16019411

Sometime between June 24th and June 27th, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a construction trailer parked on River Line just outside of Chatham. Various tools valued at approximately $10,000 were stolen.

Break and Enter in Dresden CK16019417

Sometime between June 25 at 1:00 p.m. and June 27 at 9:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into McKellar’s Flowers on St. George Street causing about $1000 damage. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
