The Chatham-Kent Police responded to 155 calls for service within the last 24 hours. One person was arrested.
Serious Motor Vehicle Collision CK17014401
Early this morning around 5:30 a.m. emergency crews responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and motorcycle at the intersection of McNaughton Avenue and Sandys Street in Chatham.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with life-threatening injuries.
The intersection remains closed as police continue their investigation. Motorists are asked to use an alternate route this morning.
The collision is being investigated by the Traffic Management Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Doug Cowell at 519-355-1092.
Windsor Woman Arrested Twice in One Day CK17014333
On April 13, 2017 a Windsor woman was arrested and charged with assault. She was released with conditions not to be in the city of Chatham except for legal or court purposes.
On April 25, 2017 the woman was observed in Chatham and a warrant was issued for her arrest for failing to comply.
Shortly after 2:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police located the woman at the court house and she was arrested on the outstanding warrant. She was also further charged with criminal harassment, uttering threats and assault. At 4:11 p.m. she was released with conditions pending a future court date in May.
At approximately 4:30 pm while walking on King Street West, the Windsor woman stared down a Chatham woman, known to her, with whom she was on conditions not to communicate with directly or indirectly. As the Chatham woman drove by, the Windsor woman raised her hand and made an inappropriate gesture at her.
Police were immediately notified of the incident and the Windsor woman was arrested within minutes. The 37-year-old Windsor woman was charged again with failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK17014259
Sometime between April 26, 2017 at 11:00 p.m. and April 27, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a locked garage on Braemar Boulevard. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a Black and Decker weed whipper, yellow Jamis bicycle, black Jamis bicycle and various hand tools.
