Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 27Sept2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 138 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.

Fatal Fire in Wallaceburg CK16032497

Just before 4:00 a.m. this morning, emergency crews responded to a residential fire on Nelson Street.

One person was found deceased in the apartment. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Nelson Street between James Street and Wellington Street remains closed. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Man Commits Indecent Act in Chatham CK16032457

Last night around 5:00 p.m. two kids were playing in a park on Wellington Street when they looked over the fence into the ravine area south of the park and observed a man pleasuring himself.

Officers located the man and he was taken into custody.

The 31-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with committing an indecent act. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16032441

On September 23, 2016 a warrant was issued for the man as he failed to comply with conditions of his Probation Order.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man and he was arrested on the outstanding warrant.

Colin Warnock, 25 years, of Emma Street in Chatham was charged with two counts of breach of probation. He was released pending a future court date of October 18, 2016.

Theft of Tools CK16032393

Sometime over the past weekend, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a work trailer on Selton Line causing about $1000 damage.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a Champion 4000W generator, Ryobi cordless drill, Ryobi sawzall, laser level, 3ā€ Honda water pump, hammer drill and corpora drill. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $5000.

Theft from Trailer CK16032411

Sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a travel trailer parked on Riverview Drive in Chatham causing about $500 damage.

Once inside, approximately $500 worth of various items were stolen.

Break and Enter CK16032455

Sometime yesterday between 1:50 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence on St. Clair Street in Chatham and stole a red 15ā€ LG laptop valued at $1000.
