Man Arrested on Parole Warrant CK16014921

Yesterday morning, the man turned himself in to police as he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for violating an alcohol condition of his Parole.

The 47-year-old Wallaceburg man was taken into custody and transported to the South West Detention Centre.

Man Charged with Driving While Disqualified CK16014994

Last night around 8:00 p.m. the man reversed his vehicle from his private driveway into the oncoming path of a vehicle travelling northbound on Ingram Street in Chatham. Upon police arrival, officers learned that the man was prohibited from driving and that the license plates on his vehicle were reported stolen.

Jacob Muller, 18 years, of Ingram Street in Chatham man was arrested and charged with driving while disqualified and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of June 17, 2016.

Man Charged with Resist Peace Officer CK16015015

This morning, around 12:15 a.m. police received information that two intoxicated men had just left an establishment in Wallaceburg. The men were located walking on Murray Street. Through investigation, the man became belligerent with the officer and was placed under arrest for being intoxicated in a public place. The man ran from the officer, however following a short foot chase was taken into custody.

The 21-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with resisting arrest and being intoxicated in a public place. He will be released pending a future court date of June 10, 2016 when sober.

Student Charged with Assault on Teacher CK16014947

Yesterday, the student was asked several times to complete work in class. He refused to co-operate and started packing up his belongings. Upon being told he could not leave the classroom, the boy pushed his teacher causing her to take several steps backwards.

The 12-year-old Chatham boy was arrested and charged with assault. He was released to a parent pending a future court date of June 13, 2016.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Wallaceburg CK16014928

Yesterday morning around 10:40 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Creek Street near James Street.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $700.

A 28-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with making an improper left turn.

Motor Vehicle Collision in Chatham CK16014991

Last night at 7:45 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on McNaughton Avenue near St. Clair Street.

No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $6000.

A 28-year-old Stoney Point woman was charged with disobeying a red light.

RetroFest 2016

This weekend, historic Downtown Chatham will be hosting classic cars and enthusiasts from across the Country.

Friday, May 27, 2016 in Tecumseh Park, amusement rides, live entertainment and a beer garden will be available. Friday night at 6:00 p.m. the ‘Classic Car Cruise’ will start at the Bradley Centre and take the same route as last year ending on King Street.

Saturday, May 28, 2016 all day in Tecumseh Park, amusement rides, live entertainment and a beer garden will be available. King Street and all side streets will be closed from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. as classic cars line the streets for all to view.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone to drink responsibly this weekend. Please share the roadway and watch your speed around the classic cars.
