Man Charged with Assault CK16039311
On November 18, 2016 a 27-year-old Wallaceburg man was walking on Dufferin Avenue when he observed a man known to him, approaching his direction. In an attempt to avoid a confrontation, the victim crossed the street, however the man followed and assaulted him. The man fled prior to police arrival.
Yesterday, police located the man and he was arrested and charged with assault. The 22-year-old Wallaceburg man was released pending a future court date of December 14, 2016.
Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK16040080
Last night around 11:45 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man leaving a pub on Main Street East in Ridgetown. The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation suspected the man was operating his truck while under the influence of alcohol.
A roadside breath test was conducted and the man failed. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
Craig VanLeeuwen, 18 years, of McBeth Road in Salford has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, consuming liquor under 19 years and driving as a young driver with a BAC above zero. He has been released pending a future court date of December 9, 2016.
His vehicle was towed from the scene and his license has been suspended for 90 days.
Trio Arrested on Outstanding Warrants in Sarnia CK16040061
Last night, Sarnia Police arrested three people wanted on outstanding warrants in regards to a break and enter and assault investigation in Chatham earlier this month.
The 39-year-old Chatham man, 28-year-old Sarnia man and 35-year-old Sarnia woman were all transported back to Chatham-Kent. They are all being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Theft from Storage Unit in Chatham CK16039973
Sometime between November 21, 2016 and November 24, 2016 unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a storage unit on Richmond Street. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a Philips Blu-Ray player, Panasonic DVD player, Keurig coffee maker, two Breville juicers, and three laundry baskets filled with brand name clothing, watches and a Cuisinart blender.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at approximately $2000.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK16039985
Yesterday morning around 11:30 a.m. emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Queens Line between Merlin Road and Drake Road.
Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $25,000.
A 64-year-old Harrow man was charged with making a left turn and failing to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision.
