Man Charged with Theft CK16001971
Around 3:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Food Basics on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The man was caught on video surveillance stealing meat. He fled the area in a vehicle.
Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Inshes Avenue and Harvey Street.
Charles Chris Heeley, 41 years, of Harvey Street in Chatham has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of February 16, 2016.
Neighbour Dispute Leads to Charges CK16001996
Since March 2014 there have been ongoing disputes between the man and his neighbours in Chatham. In December 2015, the neighbours contacted police for assistance.
Last night around 10:50 p.m. the man turned himself in to police headquarters. The 34-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault and two counts of mischief under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of February 12, 2016.
Man Charged with Driving While Under Suspension CK16001997
Just before 11:00 p.m. last night, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Victoria Street in Thamesville. Through investigation, the officer learned that the man’s driving privileges were suspended due to unpaid fines. The license plates were also not registered to the vehicle.
The 36-year-old Muncey man was charged with driving while under suspension. The vehicle was towed from the roadway and the license plates were seized.
Mischief to Vehicle in Chatham CK16001946
Sometime over the weekend, unknown suspect(s) slashed three (3) tires on a Ford Taurus parked in a lot on Baldoon Road.
