Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 25Feb2016

Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16004571

Yesterday morning, police received information that the man had assaulted his girlfriend while at a residence in Chatham on Sunday, February 21, 2016. During the altercation, the man cut the woman with a razor, assaulted her with a crow bar and burned her with a lighter. The woman was treated at a local hospital for her injuries. Through investigation, police learned that this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

Around noon yesterday, police located the man and he was arrested. The 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault with a weapon x3, aggravated assault, uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm and assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested from Wanted List RM16000536

In January 2016, police responded to a neighbour dispute in Coatsworth where tires had been flattened. Through investigation, a warrant was issued for the man for the offences of mischief under $5000 and failing to comply with his release conditions.

Yesterday morning, the man attended the court house and turned himself in to police. The 33-year-old Coatsworth man was released pending a future court date of March 2, 2016.

Woman Charged with Theft CK16004605

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham in regards to a shoplifting complaint. The woman was caught stealing approximately $230 worth of merchandise. All the items were recovered.

Kira Delaney, 22 years, of Joseph Street in Chatham was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. She was released pending a future court date of March 2, 2016.

Phishing Calls

Yesterday, a local citizen reported to police that he had received a suspicious telephone call from someone purporting to be an investigator from the Bank of Montreal. The man was asked a series of personal questions in which he realized was a phishing attempt. The man recognized it was a scam and hung up the phone.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone to never provide any personal or financial information over the phone unless you initiated the call and know exactly who you’re talking to. Break and Enter in Wallaceburg CK16004592

Sometime between February 23 at 9:30 a.m. and February 24 at noon, unknown suspect(s) stole a snow blower from a car port and two saws from a shed on Agnes Street. The black and green Craftsman 14hp snow blower was valued at $2800. The black and yellow Dewalt compound mitre saw was valued at $250. The grey Mastercraft scroll saw was valued at $185.
