Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK17009763

In February 2017, police received information regarding property that had been stolen from an address on Wellington Street E. in Chatham.

Through investigation, the man who had knowledge of the property being stolen and then sold that stolen property, was identified. Police continued to look for the man to arrest him, but their search was unsuccessful. Therefore, a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest.

Yesterday at approximately 11:20 a.m. Clayton Morgan, 40 years, of Wellington Street E. Chatham was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property obtained by a crime. Public Intoxication in Ridgetown CK17009845

Early this morning around 1:30 a.m. an officer was sitting in his fully marked police cruiser in the area of Main Street at Albert Street in Ridgetown where he observed a man exit a local bar.

The man walked over to the police cruiser, looked at the officer seated within the driver’s position and proceeded to urinate on the police cruiser. A strong odour of alcohol was detected on the man’s breath when the officer approached him.

The 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was additionally charged with causing a nuisance in a public place under the Chatham-Kent By-Law. He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was held until sober.

Last night at 8:00 p.m. an officer was travelling westbound on Harvey Street in Chatham. He observed a black Pontiac G6 travelling in the same direction and ran the license plate of that vehicle. The license plate came back to a different vehicle and the officer initiated a traffic stop.

The driver identified himself verbally and was able to confirm his identity with an Ontario photo health card. The driver then exited the vehicle and began walking away from the officer. The man became uncooperative with police when given instructions to return to the vehicle.

Through investigation it was learned that the man was a suspended driver due to unpaid fines. The 24-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with:

– Driving a motor vehicle without a permit (ownership)
